WIND TURBINE and SOLAR PANELS
Is there overspeed protection on the turbine?

Our turbine is a particular VAWT (vertical axis wind turbine), and it doesn't need a brake system. However we protect the batteries from the peak of current.
What is the specification of the solar panels?
It depends from the client's need. Our standard PV component comprises 8 x 170W monocrystalline panels.

GRID
How does the system interface with the national grid? Is it designed to for stand alone or local grid applications?

Our hybrid system is designed for rural/ peri-urban areas that have no connection with the grid. If our system will be installed in areas with grid connection, we can provide an inverter to connect it to the grid.
If you do not interface with the grid then I assume that in extreme conditions the users could be without electricity.
Yes. Actually we compute the battery capacity in order to have a few days of autonomy also in total absence of wind and solar irradiation. Our regulator will preserve as much as possible the event to be without electricity.
Obviously, this strategy can change if our system will be installed in an area with grid connection.

BATTERIES
What type of battery is used?

Specification of batteries with specific reference to cycling capability is needed.
What is the typical capacity of the battery bank?
What is the battery replacement costs as a function of energy produced?

We can provide different batteries and we choose them based on specific environmental conditions, energy needs and type of use. Please, le us know for which application you need it and how much energy (in kWh) you require.
You can also compute a day (or more, if you want) of autonomy.

INVERTER
Is an inverter part of the package?

Yes.
If so what is the specification?

It depends from the client's need. We use now a pure sine inverter, 5 kVA.
Is the output of the system 240V ac or 12 V dc or a combination?
The output is 230V ac 50 Hz.

REGULATION
How is the solar output regulated to suit battery characteristics?

For the solar part we implement mttp and pwm technologies.
How is the total output matched to battery requirements?
A special parametrizable regulator controls the voltage and the current to the batteries.
What happens with excess output?
We can provide a load diversion, based to our client request: water heating, water pumps, etc.
What happens with excess demand?
We can control the peak power for each user. We also control the overall daily consumption.
How do you control demand from the users?
The regulator calibrates the power to the output, to the batteries and to the load.
We also calibrate the user's electricity meter.
